Inspection of caravans and trailers

We also inspect trailers and caravans.

• Trailers in class O1 (light trailers with a total mass of less than 750 kg) do not need a periodic inspection at all.
• Trailers in class O2 (total vehicle mass of 751–3,500 kg) must be inspected for the first time by the end of the calendar year in which two years pass since they were first brought into use. This category also includes touring and boat transportation trailers.
• The total mass of a vehicle in class O3 is more than 3.5 tonnes but not more than 10 tonnes. Class O3 inspections are available at stations where we service heavy vehicles.
• A vehicle in category O4 has a total mass of more than 10 tonnes. O4 inspections are available at the stations where we service heavy vehicles.
• An R class vehicle is a tractor-trailer intended for transporting goods.

For example, a trailer of class O2 that entered into use on 15 May 2014 according to its registration certificate must have its first periodic test in the period 1 January – 31 December 2016.

Thereafter, the trailer is inspected every two years by the end of the calendar year.
