Traffic safety is our work

Vehicle inspection is an EU directive-compliant examination conducted on vehicles, and the inspection verifies the items specified in the regulations.

The inspection verifies that the vehicle is safe in traffic, emissions are sufficiently low, and that mandatory vehicle taxes and traffic insurance premiums have been paid. The vehicle’s equipment must also be in the condition required by regulations.

Many defects and shortcomings affecting vehicle safety and operation can also be identified by oneself. By repairing known defects in advance, one can avoid repair notices or even rejection at the inspection. Based on a defect detected during the inspection, the vehicle may be required to undergo a re-inspection, in which case the defect or shortcoming identified during the periodic inspection will be re-examined.

The re-inspection must be conducted within one month of the periodic inspection. If the re-inspection is not conducted within the deadline, the entire inspection must be repeated. For certain defect levels defined by Traficom, only a repair notice may be issued, in which case the vehicle does not need to be re-approved after repair.

An approved periodic inspection is recorded in the vehicle’s registration certificate and in the vehicle register. If the vehicle’s inspection is not valid, the vehicle is prohibited from use.

Booking terms

Plus Katsastus appointment booking terms of use

These terms of use apply to both self-service bookings made online and bookings made through the customer service center and station customer service.

Acceptance of terms

By making a booking, you confirm that you have read these booking terms and accept these booking terms.

Vehicle information

Ensure that the vehicle information provided by the booking system matches your vehicle, i.e., that you have entered the registration number correctly and the system has found the correct vehicle.

If you are booking an appointment for an O2-class trailer or a museum vehicle, always verify the inspection interval from the registration certificate or a possible previous inspection certificate.

Service selection

When booking a periodic inspection, the booking system suggests the statutory emissions measurement required by your vehicle. If you have had or intend to have this measurement conducted elsewhere before the inspection, you can remove them from the booking. In this case, you will need to bring a certificate of emissions measurements conducted elsewhere to the inspection. The certificate is valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

Booking and confirmation

A booking is considered binding when it has been confirmed and you have received a booking confirmation. This can occur verbally or electronically through the booking system via email and/or text message.

Payment of booking

Certain appointments require advance payment of the service in order to receive the advance payment discount. The advance payment discount is not available for O2-class vehicles.

Payment for regular-priced bookings can be made either in advance online or at the service point in connection with the inspection.

Payment registration may take 1–3 days depending on the bank and payment method. If you book and pay in advance for an appointment in the near future, print or be prepared to present your payment receipt at the inspection. The receipt containing the archive number serves as official payment confirmation.

An invoice option is available for consumer customers through the online booking system when purchasing an appointment. The invoice option requires an approved credit decision. The payment method provider may add their own invoicing fee to the payment. This is stated in connection with the respective payment method.

At our stations, accepted payment methods include Finnish debit cards, the most common credit and payment cards, and cash (not at the Kerava station).

Transferring and modifying a booking

A prepaid or unpaid appointment can be transferred at https://varaa.plus.fi/muokkaus or through our customer service.

Combining discounts

Other discounts or offers cannot be combined with discounted appointments.

Arriving at the inspection

The service you have booked will be started at the time stated in the booking confirmation. However, register at the station office approximately 10 minutes before the booked time. This ensures your access to the inspection on time.

Cancellation and failure to appear

Both paid and unpaid appointments can be cancelled at any time if the booked service has not been used. If you have paid for the booking in advance, contact our customer service for a refund. The refund will not incur any costs for you. The payment will be refunded using the same payment method used for the original charge.

The payment for a booked appointment that was not attended without notice will also be refunded upon request.

Payment service provider

The payment transaction service and payment service provider is Paytrail Oyj (2122839-7) in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Paytrail Oyj appears as the payee on the bank statement or card invoice and transfers the payment to the merchant. Paytrail Oyj holds a payment institution license. In case of complaints, we kindly ask you to contact Plus Katsastus first.
