Plus Katsastus is a vehicle inspection industry consortium owned and managed entirely by Finnish entrepreneurs. Our purpose is to serve consumers in all inspection matters with expertise and a positive service attitude.
Vehicle inspection is an examination conducted in accordance with EU directives, and during inspection, the items specified in the regulations are checked.
The inspection verifies that the vehicle is safe for traffic, emissions are sufficiently low, and that mandatory vehicle taxes and traffic insurance premiums have been paid. The vehicle’s equipment must also be in the condition required by regulations.
Many defects and shortcomings affecting the vehicle’s safety and operation can also be identified by yourself. By repairing known defects in advance, you can avoid repair recommendations or even rejection at inspection. Based on a defect found during inspection, the vehicle may be required to undergo a re-inspection, in which case the defect or shortcoming identified during the periodic inspection is checked again.
The re-inspection must be completed within one month of the periodic inspection. If the re-inspection is not completed within the deadline, the entire inspection must be performed again. For defects classified by Traficom at certain levels, only a repair recommendation may be issued, in which case the vehicle does not need to be re-approved after repair.
An approved periodic inspection is recorded in the vehicle’s registration certificate and in the vehicle register. If the vehicle’s inspection is not valid, the vehicle is prohibited from use.
